... Da beim Reitsport die Anstrengung weniger bei dem Reiter als bei dem Pferd liegt, ist das Quer-feld-ein Reiten eine beliebte Freizeitbeschäftigung.
Bei bestimmten Reitsportarten jedoch, sind selbst die Jockeys nicht unterbelastet, wie zum Beispiel das Springreiten. Hier muss der Reiter das Pferd mit Hilfe der Zügel und des eigenen Gewichtes versuchen sein Pferd im richtigen Moment mit der richtigen Geschwindigkeit über ein Hindernis springen zu lassen.
Das Kunstreitn ist eine weitere alternative. Hier muss der Jockey sein Pferd so unter kontrolle haben, dass dieses sich ohne Verbale kommunikation in so verhältr wie sein Reiter es von ihm wünscht. Dieses geschieht in der Regel ebenfalls durch minimale Körperbewegungen und durch, kaum sichtbare Fuß"tritte".
